On the other hand, Tennessee celebrates Jeff Davis's birthday, June 3, as Confederate Memorial Day. Texas has a ginned-up Confederate Heroes Day on January 19, which rather awkwardly coincides with Martin Luther King, Jr., Day in some years. Virginia lumps the secessionist celebration with the national Memorial Day. You're seeing a pattern of disorganization, which perhaps contributed to the Confederacy's defeat?
